About My Studio

I'm trained in the Suzuki Method with the foundational understanding that "Every Child Can." This approach encourages that the teacher meet the child exactly where he/she is in effort to best serve the individual child. We work to develop consistent practice goals with an emphasis on attention to detail and personal expression, all done through the vehicle of one-on-one music lessons.

Studies have consistently shown correlation between music lessons and success in academic studies. (One example can be found here.) The skills we learn in music lessons translate to every area of a child’s life.

I love bringing supplemental repertoire in to lessons and will often teach a song by ear or ask the student to bring in a song that they love. I bring a traditional classical background mixed with a performance degree in Popular Music from USC and a deep love for fiddle music.

In my teaching, I work to connect the body with the mind. My goal is to support your child holistically in our musical journey to support as Dr. Suzuki said eloquently said, "Beautiful tone, beautiful heart." Listening, theory, and music history are consistently incorporated into my curriculum and I will often send students home with assignments to help them become not only performers of music, but lifelong appreciators and supporters of the arts.

About Me

Trained in violin and piano from the age of 4, Emily began teaching in 2004. A second-generation Southern California native and the child of career educators, she chose music as both her passion and profession. She holds a BM from the Thornton School of Music at USC in Popular Music and is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Influenced through the combination of Suzuki instruction and fiddle music, Emily developed a unique approach to the violin that showcases her stylistic range and commitment to redefining 21st century, creative string playing.

Fluent on piano and pipe organ, Emily continued to take keyboard lessons while at USC. As a composer, arranger, and performer, Emily's music can be found on all streaming platforms.
